Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices and End Effectors

To attach a full load to an overhead hoisting equipment, use below hook lifting devices and end effectors. A safe rigging device, safe hoist, and safe loading methods promote on the job safety in the workplace. Do not load more weight than the rigging can handle, ensure all parts and equipment are in working order, and use the correct equipment for handling loads. Inspect all equipment on a regular basis as well. Common end effectors and custom lifters include:

Low Headroom Bridges

Low Headroom Bridges

Low headroom bridges consist of maximum lifting height bridges and three trucked underhung cranes.

The maximum lifting height bridges help deal with hook heights that are common in standard cranes. These include:

  • Underhung double girder bridge crane—a system designed with two underhung bridge beams uses a top running trolley hoist. This equipment has a 1 – 20 ton capacity.
  • Underhung single girder bridge crane with coped bridge girder—a bridge beam that is supported between two runways and equipped with wire rope, hand chain, or electric chain hoists. This system has a capacity of 1 – 15 tons
  • Top-running bridge crane with underhung trolley—a system that places a hoist high between two girders. This equipment provides the highest hook heights and under bridge beam clearance out of any system. This bridge crane has a 1 -20 ton capacity.

The three trucked underhung cranes increase the size of the bridge girder. It adds a third runway in order to decrease the distance between runways allowing for a reduced bridge height. Underhung cranes generally have a 1 – 20 ton capacity. This special application allows for:

  • Bridge cranes with trucks ordinarily equipped with side guide rollers
  • A unique design that will float the center truck when the load is not to full capacity
  • Proper hook height regardless of the amount of headroom in your building.

Telescoping Cranes

Telescoping Cranes

Telescoping cranes allows you to maneuver your load through doorways and around corners. By using a second beam, positioned below the main beam, you are able to transfer loads to an adjoining bay. Standard capacities for a telescoping crane average 1 – 10 tons. Additional options for these cranes include:

  • Free traveling pendant stations
  • Radio controls
  • 2 speed & variable controls
  • Travel alarms & lights
  • Zoning controls for limited traveling
  • Runway beams
  • Increased sizes for wheels & end trucks
